Next week, a few of us will be cooking at the lovely Bonnington Café, a co-operatively run vegetarian restaurant, tucked away in the back streets of Vauxhall. The Bonnington started off as a squat café in the early 80’s, providing cheap and healthy meals to the local community. It is one of the projects that inspired the Brixton People’s Kitchen, and we are very delighted to join in for one evening! Here is the programme for the day:
Lunch prepared by Rachel & Charlie, from Italo, 12.30 and 2pm.
Dinner prepared with surplus food by Brixton People’s Kitchen 6.30 – 10.30
Music by Secret Sailing Club, 8.30 – 9.15
The suggested prices for the evening will range from £3 for a starter or a dessert, to £7 for a main. It will not be like our traditional ‘pop in when you want’ event, but rather like a proper sit down dinner. So reserve a table by emailing Charlie on orangeblossomcharlie@gmail.com
All the benefits will go in part to the Bonnington Centre, and in part to us.
We are very excited about this, and would like to shout a big thank you to Charlie for organising this. Charlie is one of our heroes. He runs Italo, a beautiful deli also located in Bonnington Square. Make sure you visit them, as they do amazing breakfasts, and sell of sorts of delicious products. They also donate some of their surplus food to us on a regular basis, and we are extremely thankful for that!
